Inter-college competitions were organized on the theme "Drug Free Haryana" at Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur. This program was organized under the joint aegis of District AIDS Control Society, Youth Red Cross, Management Department and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
On this occasion, Dr. Birendra Singh, Nodal Officer of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, while addressing the youth, said that we should say “no” to drugs in life. He told that as per the guidelines of the Government of India, the IGU administration is constantly trying to make the university a drug-free campus.
In the program, Youth Red Cross Program Coordinator and Management Department Head Dr. Samridhi expressed her gratitude to all the officials of the Health Department. She said that it is a matter of pride for the university that IGU has been selected to organize this program for the second consecutive year. She also welcomed the participants and teachers from various colleges.
On this occasion, the chief guest of the program was Dr. Deepak Verma, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Rewari. In his address, he said that drug addiction seriously affects the physical and mental growth of students. He informed that counseling for all diseases related to mental health and HIV/AIDS is available free of cost in the Civil Hospital. Also, the government will soon open a de-addiction center, in which free medicines will be provided to the youth through the OST center to de-addiction, so that they can avoid the ill effects of drug addiction.
The results of various competitions were as follows-
In the poster making competition, first place was secured by Divya (Yadauvanshi Engineering College), second place by Nidhi Verma (Yadauvanshi Degree College, Mahendragarh), third place by Sapna Kumari (IGU, MBA) and incentive award was secured by Taparna (IGU, M.A. Hindi).
In the reel making competition, first place was secured by Rajat and team (IGU, UTD), second place was secured by Yaduvanshi College Mahendragarh and third place was secured by Yaduvanshi Degree College, Narnaul.
In the speech competition, first place was secured by Rahul (Yadavvanshi Degree College, Narnaul), second place by Radhika (IGU, LL.B. 2nd Year) and third place by Rinki (IGU, M.A. Hindi).
In the street play competition, first place was secured by Yaduvanshi Degree College, Mahendragarh and second place was secured by IGU team.
Professor Karan Singh honoured all the winners by giving them certificates and trophies.
On this occasion, Dr. Ashish and his team from Civil Hospital Rewari, YRC Counselor Dr. Bharti, Dr. Jaswinder Singh and Dr. Sushant Yadav from Management Department, Dr. Naveen Kaushal from Hotel Management Department along with a large number of teachers and non-teaching staff were present.
